Neues Album & Tour: Kylie Minogue im 80er Star-Interview bei harmony

The inhalation is excitement, a little bit of nerves, anticipation, all these different feelings. But mostly excitement that I will be able to get to so many parts of the world and see so many people and share in this moment. To be back in Germany is just going to be brilliant.

Es ist Aufregung, ein bisschen Nervosität, Vorfreude, all diese verschiedenen Gefühle. Aber vor allem die Aufregung, dass ich in so viele Teile der Welt komme, so viele Menschen sehe und diesen Moment teilen kann. Wieder in Deutschland zu sein, wird einfach brillant sein.

We've got the main shape of it, but then there's maybe a few little curios or unexpected things or there's a lot of music, you're right, over all the decades and albums and hits and misses, hits and maybes. Definitely, of course, Tension, Tension 2, that's the tour, that's the moment, but not forgetting a bunch of the big hits.

Wir haben ein Grundgerüst, aber dann gibt es vielleicht ein paar kleine Kuriositäten oder unerwartete Dinge. Es steht eine Menge Musik zur Auswahl, du hast recht, über all die Jahrzehnte und Alben, Hits und Misserfolge, Hits und Vielleichts. Definitiv, natürlich, Tension, Tension 2, das ist die Tour, das ist der Moment, aber ohne eine Reihe der großen Hits zu vergessen.

Uh, "Tension 2" because it made sense. It's so uninventive as a title that it stuck. There was more tension, hypertension, extensions, all these other tensions, but actually let's just cut to the chase. It's Tension 2 and it has landed very well. 

„Tension 2“, weil es Sinn ergab. Es ist als Titel so einfallslos, dass er hängen geblieben ist. Es gab mehr Tension, Hypertension, Extensions, all diese anderen Spannungen, aber eigentlich lass uns einfach auf den Punkt kommen. Es ist „Tension 2“ und es ist sehr gut angekommen.

It was a great moment and I had some upset friends afterwards who we would have been, we would have flown there, we would have been there and like it was a surprise so I kept it as a surprise. So I was standing by to the side of the stage and she did this amazing introduction and I just thought a 15 year old me is freaking out right now. But actual me me, like today me, just felt the closer we got to it the better and better and better it felt. It's just a legend, I'm next to a legend.

Es war ein großartiger Moment und danach hatte ich einige verärgerte Freunde, die gesagt haben, dass sie hingeflogen wären und dort gewesen wären, aber da es eine Überraschung war, habe ich es für mich behalten. Ich stand also an der Seite der Bühne, und sie machte diese erstaunliche Show, und ich dachte nur, mein 15-jähriges Ich flippt gerade aus. Aber mein aktuelles Ich, also das heutige Ich, fühlte einfach, je näher wir dem Moment kamen, desto besser und besser fühlte es sich an. Es ist einfach eine Legende, ich stehe neben einer Legende.

Of course, and I do by the way. I've managed to live a lot of the time, not all the time, but a lot of the time, a very quote unquote normal, whatever normal is, but yeah, just get about and do things. I thankfully can really a lot of times be left alone or I just don't go out. Years ago, it would be if you were in the street or doing something every day, no one had a camera, but if you were on holiday somewhere, that's when everyone's got their camera out for their holiday snaps. So the balance was if you're in a holiday zone, there's more chance someone's going to say, I've got my camera. No one knows if the pictures worked out, if you look one picture and left. So now it's, it's quite different.

Natürlich, und das tue ich übrigens auch. Es ist mir meist gelungen, nicht immer, aber was auch immer normal bedeutet, ein normales Leben zu führen. Nicht die ganze Zeit, aber ziemlich oft. Glücklicherweise werde ich meist in Ruhe gelassen oder ich gehe einfach nicht raus. Vor Jahren war es so, wenn man auf der Straße oder war etwas unternommen hat, hatte niemand eine Kamera dabei. Nur wenn man irgendwo im Urlaub war, dann haben alle ihre Kamera für die Urlaubsfotos herausgeholt. Das Gleichgewicht war also, dass wenn man sich in einer Urlaubsgegend aufhält, ist die Wahrscheinlichkeit größer, dass jemand sagt, ich habe meine Kamera dabei. Niemand wusste, ob die Bilder gelungen sind, wenn man ein Bild gemacht und wieder weggegangen ist. Jetzt ist das ziemlich anders.

If I had to say, am I embarrassed or not embarrassed, I would like to say, to do a deep dive, I'm sure I'd find some things. But generally, no, I have to be proud of that time. And the 80s as a whole, the start of the 80s, I was just a fan of music. And I was a young 13, 14 and would listen to the radio whenever I could and just live and breathe and dream of pop music. And in the end of the 80s, I was making pop music. So I heart the 80s.

Wenn ich sagen müsste, ob mir was peinlich ist oder nicht, würde ich sagen, dass ich, wenn ich tief eintauche, sicher einige Dinge finden würde. Aber im Allgemeinen, nein. Ich muss auf diese Zeit stolz sein. Und die 80er als Ganzes? Am Anfang der 80er, war ich einfach ein Musikfan. Ich war 13-14 Jahre jung und hörte, wann immer ich konnte Radio und lebte, atmete und träumte von Popmusik. Und am Ende der 80er machte ich Popmusik. Also, ich liebe die 80er.

Not really there was a time I was let's go into the 90s where the 80s was not cool And the locomotion was definitely not cool, and I should be so like it was like none of it was cool So I went into that 90s phase or the 2000 phase in this current moment It's gone all the way around and locomotion is living its best life certainly in my shows It's it's one of the high points of the show where people who know it who were around in the 80s or just after the 80s It's nostalgic for them. It takes them back to to the younger days Wildly, and I would never have predicted this the kids in Gen Z. They go crazy to it I would never have figured that was gonna happen.

Nicht wirklich, es gab eine Zeit - lass uns in die 90er gehen -  in der die 80er nicht cool waren und "The Locomotion" definitiv nicht cool war. Also ging ich in die 90er-Phase oder die 2000er-Phase in diesem Moment. Jetzt hat sich das Blatt völlig gewendet, und "The Locomotion" erlebt sein bestes Leben, besonders in meinen Shows. Es ist einer der Höhepunkte. Menschen, die es kennen, die in den 80ern oder gleich danach lebten, werden nostalgisch. Es nimmt sie mit auf eine Reise in ihre Jugend, auf erstaunliche Weise. Und ich hätte das nie vorausgesagt, die Kids der Gen Z gehen total darauf ab. Dass das passieren würde, hätte ich nie gedacht.

In 2017, when I was working on Golden Album in Nashville, it was literally 100 degrees. I mean, it was so hot. After finishing work in the studio, I would mostly be dining outside, having a glass of rosé, which I really enjoyed. And one night, just the way the light was catching the glass and the rosé, I said out loud, that's so pretty and I love it. I love this moment. And I'd love to have my own rosé one day. Then in 2020, start of 2020, a wine producer reached out to me, would I be interested in making a rosé? And so I said, you're going to need to hold my hand through the process. All I know is I enjoy a glass of wine from time to time, but I don't know about wine. So it's been an incredible voyage of discovery to lean in this world and find things that are similar between wine and music. And I was like, first day at a new school, you know.

Im Jahr 2017, als ich in Nashville an dem Album "Golden" arbeitete, waren es buchstäblich 100 Grad Fahrenheit. Ich meine, es war so heiß. Nach der Arbeit im Studio habe ich meistens draußen gegessen und ein Glas Roséwein getrunken, was ich sehr genossen habe. Und eines Abends, als das Licht so schön auf das Glas und den Rosé fiel, sagte ich laut: "Das ist so schön, und ich liebe es. Ich liebe diesen Moment. Und eines Tages hätte ich gerne meinen eigenen Rosé." Dann, Anfang 2020, wandte sich ein Weinproduzent an mich und fragte, ob ich daran interessiert wäre, einen Rosé zu kreieren. Und ich sagte: "Ihr werdet mich bei diesem Prozess an die Hand nehmen müssen. Alles, was ich weiß, ist, dass ich ab und zu ein Glas Wein genieße, aber ich kenne mich nicht mit Wein aus." Es war also eine unglaubliche Entdeckungsreise, in diese Welt einzutauchen und Ähnlichkeiten zwischen Wein und Musik zu finden. Es war wie der erste Tag an einer neuen Schule, verstehst du?
